Audience Member A lot of Charlie's Keystone films seem to revolve around alcohol in some way. The sight of two blacked-up actors in this is rather unsettling, but this is the first film I've seen where The Tramp's physical humour started to shine through and there are several laugh-out-loud moments. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/04/23 Full Review Audience Member Yet another Chaplin film from 1914. one of his 35 of that year actually. Unfortunately this is not one of his better films. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Wow, this was a disappointment. Even if we don't mention the atrocious framing that takes place throughout, where most of the scenes seem to take place with mostly headless people, the comedy just isn't that funny. Charlie is an unlikable drunk who fights with everyone he sees, and that pretty much sums up the movie. The one funny bit came when he tried to leave the bathroom and got hit several times with the door. His command of physical comedy was evident in this early scene. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Audience Member Watch out for that swinging door! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Read all reviews
