Jody C @JodyCazz Jun 16 A very good horror movie focusing on genuine creepy scares, a well written script and an emotionally confined environment. The fear and pressure this film creates is great. This style of supernatural horror I can enjoy because it has some unique imagery that is very different from 90% of the american supernatural scene. I found myself disappointed in the decisions of our main characters here. However instead of it annoying me like it does in most movies, I found myself trying to see the characters point of views to try to understand their reasoning. It is a complex layer of emotions and i genuinely enjoyed the unease this movie put me through. A bit of a lackluster ending but nothing awful. It wrapped up well enough I suppose. To start off I want to say that I probably should rate this movie higher, however it was not really my type of movie or the movie that I was searching for in our group. The problems I had with this movie was the slower pacing and the focus on grief over horror (while they did a good job displaying the grief, its not what I wanted). The things I liked was the acting, the main character (I really liked Bol's positive mindset and truly trying to start new), the horror parts (while few, they still did a good job when it was horror focused), and the ending of the movie (Bol making the sacrificial play and Rial saving him, Bol and Rial stopped running from trauma and accepting it, and Rial finally trying for a new life.) While a large number watched in hope of a shallow scares only affair, they were left disappointed. But the film delves much deeper than this. If you get the message then you are a wise and heart felt individual. Or.......could there be a more sinister reason for their disappointment. I loved the plot in the acting. See more Torben E @Torben Apr 4 Initially I thought that this was simply a contemporary haunted house movie. But I was very wrong. The movie disguises itself as a horror movie but in truth it's more of a psychological thriller and a movie about loss, grief and self-perception. There are some very scary scenes and there is a strong supernatural element but the underlying message of this film deviates from most other horror movies. If you like arthouse cinema, flawless acting and some good scares, packed into an overseeable 90 minute movie night then this film is probably for you. See more One Persons Opinion T @RT54080080 Mar 29 This movie was not bad , but not my favorite. The beginning first half of the movie was very interesting and I love the use of darkness and silence to build tension in the scenes but ultimately , that all went downhill in the second half. Once the wife started being able to communicate with the ghosts and the ghost, helping her connect with whatever was she was connecting with it got weird in a bad way that was no longer horror but more like an analogy of self and pain of loss. Now I'm not against having movies with a deeper meaning and diving into themes that are deeply emotional but I really feel this movie missed an opportunity to be a very scary feature. The male lead was excellent , and when he was losing his mind and going through fighting the demons and his hallucinations , it really was scary and his performance was believable. The female character was also played well, but I think that her side of the script was very lacking and it felt like watching two different films. See more Read all reviews
