In a desperate attempt to get out of debt, career gambler Dan Milner (Robert Mitchum) agrees to rendezvous with a mysterious contact at a distant Mexican resort in exchange for $50,000. Upon arriving, Milner meets his fellow guests, including a plastic surgeon, a philandering movie star (Vincent Price) and his beautiful girlfriend (Jane Russell). Soon Milner discovers that the man who hired him may be the ruthless Nick Ferraro -- a deported Italian gangster who looks just like him.

I wish Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell had made more movies together. Their chemistry almost melts the celluloid. This film, though, is more memorable for the absolute trippy performance by Vincent Price and an equally phantasmagoric third act.

Excellent movie. Built up slowly. There was comic relief and banter, but i would not call it a 'comedy' as some have. Hard to believe the plot was about a FACE TRANSPLANT in 1951. Also, JANE RUSSELL was HOT! MITCHUM! JIM BACKUS MR. MAGOO. Saw it on late nite tv 10-27-2019. Catching more of it again, on the MOVIE Channel 13.3, 1 .6.2022

Synopsis
