In a desperate attempt to get out of debt, career gambler Dan Milner (Robert Mitchum) agrees to rendezvous with a mysterious contact at a distant Mexican resort in exchange for $50,000. Upon arriving, Milner meets his fellow guests, including a plastic surgeon, a philandering movie star (Vincent Price) and his beautiful girlfriend (Jane Russell). Another great Mitchum noir, albeit atypical in that Price provides an over-the-top comedic performance that is so camp yet perfect for the story. While Russell has chemistry with Mitchum, her character is included simply to enhance the movie poster.

I wish Robert Mitchum and Jane Russell had made more movies together. Their chemistry almost melts the celluloid. This film, though, is more memorable for the absolute trippy performance by Vincent Price and an equally phantasmagoric third act.
