Audience Member Its a decent movie with the retired hitman and his reintegration into the life. The motives of the census bureau agents was a bit weird but the movie had some pretty good moments. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/10/23 Full Review Audience Member HIT PARADE written & directed by Joe Casey So this movie is whacked - in a good way. Script is fun: ex-hitman Jerome Archer (Jonathan Browning) is harrassed by a nutjob census agent (Scott Brick) and his lesbian junior partner (Mariah Robinson) into tracking down potentially insane and dangerous hitman Speed Razor (Nicholas Lanier). This is the world of low budget film. There's no denying that. However, it strangely works when mixed with Joe Casey's violent and Tarantino-esque script. At first I thought this was going to be a PULP FICTION rip. (Even the opening credits bring up thoughts of Tarantino.) But the twists and character complexities reveal far more than a rip at work here. The acting is really decent. Scott Brick as Special Agent Frank Donnolley, Jonathan Browning as Jerome Archer and Mariah Robinson as Agent Alice Fresno - they all seem to be having fun and are watchable and competent. The real highlight of the cast, however, is Nicholas Lanier who is off the rails weird and fantastic. His performance (and his hair!) is one of the chief production values of the film. Lanier runs a marathon here. If you are looking for AVATAR-type production value, this isn't for you. But HIT PARADE is a fascinating look at what a low-budget film can be: unexpected, entertaining and quite competently pulled off. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Read all reviews
