Anton Bitel Little White Lies 11/27/2019
the direction here is unflashy and workaday, even pedestrian, and much of the dialogue... comes across as over-earnest and stilted. Nonetheless, like its antihero, it conceals beneath its blandly wholesome exterior some shocking transgressions. Go to Full Review
Rocco T. Thompson Rue Morgue Magazine 07/03/2024
A sun-dappled, motorized amble to depravity and death, Hitch Hik to Hell is primo California scuzz from the waning days of widespread hitchhiking. Go to Full Review
Chris Alexander Alexander On Film 01/07/2020
By conventional standards, the shoestring-budgeted HITCH HIKE TO HELL isn't a particularly well produced work. But man, does it pack a disorienting, primal punch. Go to Full Review
Chris Ward Flickering Myth 12/01/2019
Hitch Hike to Hell is a sleazy 1970s exploitation movie that offers up very little from its basic premise and does exactly what it says in the title. Go to Full Review

delysid d 01/17/2018 christ this is boring See more 02/09/2013 If High School students made a movie it would turn out to be something like this. There's nothing of any nastiness here. The tad bit of exploitation comes right near the beginning. The rest is on the level of a TV movie. Gotta love Howard playing basketball with the girls. There's so much filler throughout, it becomes comical. Yet, near the end, the film surprises us. There's a couple bold choices relating to the last murder that I was not expecting. Considering the final shot, the director was clearly a fan of Psycho. See more 01/16/2011 Bad exploitation that was shot in 67, saw a brief theatrical run in 1970 & then resurfaced in 1977. It should have stayed buried. Mama's boy's sister runs away so he takes it upon himself to rape & kill hitch hikers in his dry cleaning delivery van. Russell 'The Professor' Johnson investigates. Robert Gribbin as our psycho du jour is quite laughable & he should just calm down, have another root beer & sniff some modeling glue. Trash like this was common place on the grindhouse circuit & Hitch Hike to Hell brings nothing original or interesting to the genre. It's done better in films like Killer's Delight & even then See more 12/05/2009 Watchable but pretty samey throughout though the lead actor does give a decent performance. As for the soundtrack - I swear ive heard some of it somewhere before. See more 11/24/2009 Pretty good, with an excellent performance from Robert Gribbin. There's a rather good soundtrack, some fantastically awkward dialogue between the detectives, and a blindingly amazing scene with Don Lewis as the affectionately credited Gay Boy. Great stuff. See more 06/10/2009 Wierd, sleazy, low budget... But then what do you want from Harry Novak? See more Read all reviews
