Shael A beautiful view into the genius and art of directing and creating suspense for an era of movies that are unique and timeless. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/26/23 Full Review Kyle M Thoughtfully enriching and informatively fascinating, this documentary as a companion follow-up to the eponymous book dives into the Hitchcockian significance as an appreciative portrait that marks what you could expect by elemental coverage over his impactful auteurism. (A-) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 10/02/23 Full Review Audience Member This was a great conversation between two directors Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review isaac m Hitchcock/Truffaut is an amazing French-American documentary that tells the story of the meeting between the Master of Suspense and the Master of the French Wave. I love everything from this movie from the people who were interviewed like Wes Anderson and Martin Scorsese to the images that highlight the events unfolding. Overall, Hitchcock/Truffaut is a unique documentary that shows an interesting meeting from two iconic directors. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review William L A wonderfully insightful look into Hitchcock's genius at film as a visual medium, topped with some wonderfully diverse commentaries from the filmmakers of today. Top viewing for those wanting more after initial viewings of some of the great directors most poignant classics. (4/5) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 08/12/20 Full Review Audience Member Hitchcock's genius cannot be denied, but man do these directors just pontificate on and on, finding meanings that are just farcical. And then the movie ends with the enigmatic finale that makes you wonder did you just waste 2 hours of your life watching this? Tina Hassannia RogerEbert.com Despite its historical subject, "Hitchcock/Truffaut" adeptly proves the timelessness of cinema. Aug 25, 2016 Full Review David Sims The Atlantic Jones has laid enough of a foundation on Hitchcock's style that viewers can watch one of cinema's most famous moments with fresh eyes. Aug 12, 2016 Full Review Robert Lloyd Los Angeles Times It brings the pages to life with clips and photos and the sound of the directors talking seriously and less seriously. Aug 9, 2016 Full Review Jordan Brooks Vague Visages Although it contains very little new material, Hitchcock/Truffaut will undoubtedly find a home within the film education community and could become an important tool in introducing Hitchcock’s immense body of work... Aug 1, 2023 Full Review Nikki Baughan AWFJ.org The result is an engaging, insightful documentary that is the perfect visual partner to a truly essential book. Sep 29, 2021 Full Review Dustin Chang ScreenAnarchy I wish Jones spent a little more time on Truffaut's filmography where we can see Hitchcock's influence. But still, hugely entertaining and informative, the film is a required viewing for any serious cinephiles. Jul 17, 2020 Full Review Read all reviews
