      Critics Consensus

Sean Bean tries giving motive and emotion to The Hitcher, but director Dave Meyers is more interested in cheap shocks, and gratuitous gore and torture.

Cidal K John Bean is absolutely sinister in this. The truck scene is nine chilling to this day. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/26/24 Full Review Justin T This is an inferior remake but also it's not a bad film. It's mostly forgettable. It is worth sticking with this one to the ending as the action really does ramp up. It's not a thoughtful movie but instead a thrill ride that looked pretty. That is exactly why I quite liked it. It is serious and that is something that I liked about it, there is no sense of humour! Maybe they could have done something different to distinguish itself from the original, it really feels very unoriginal overall in style and content. The casting isn't as good. Compared to the original I will remember it for actually showing the guy getting ripped in half rather than just implying it. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/24 Full Review Meg G It's hard to re-make a classic like the original hitcher, and they didn't really hit all the marks. it didn't make me feel as scared as the OG did Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/16/24 Full Review Jonathan O I really don't like this remake it has the same vibe from the same director who remake Amityville Horror and Texas Chainsaw Massacre and produced by Michael Bay. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 09/16/23 Full Review Terry S I don't care what the critics say--I enjoyed the hell out of it. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 12/16/22 Full Review The Artful D Saw the 19% critic rating but watched it anyway. What a pleasant surprise! Great little movie. Extremely well directed and well acted. Sean Bean was flawless in his portrayal. Sophia Bush was excellent not to mention seriously hot. Zachary Knighton was also very good. Well-paced. Lovely shots. This is a quality film. Suspense and horror galore. Highly recommended. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 11/11/22 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
