r 9 The last film to come from the 'On the Buses' television series, the weakest one at that. 'Holiday on the Buses' isn't far off the preceding two spin-offs, but it just felt a bit flat throughout to me. I didn't feel bored by any of it, though also didn't find that much entertainment either. It's just very meh. I am someone who enjoys the actual on the bus shenanigans most, which is somewhat lacking here - and even when they are on a bus, it's a tour one. The sexism remains, to the shock of nobody. Reg Varney, Bob Grant and Stephen Lewis remain enjoyable, especially Lewis. As with the its predecessors, none of the support cast stand out majorly. There are a few amusing moments, but more limp ones to be honest. Most of the jokes felt repeated from the 1971 and 1972 productions. No surprise they ended these films here. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member Director Bryan Izzard shows that he has mastered his craft in a camp portrayal of mayhem during a holiday outdoors transported away by double decker bus. Reg Varney's portrayal as a playboy bus driver cannot be surpassed. The name to remember however is Inspector Blake as Blakey played by Stephen Lewis. As the story unfolds you will be taken on a journey that you'll never forget! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review simon d It's really quite astonishing how this series was so popular. The comedy is very bad and the likelihood of two old letches like the two main "studs" in this of pulling all the fit birds is as likely as this film winning an award from the feminist film society. I tried to watch this with my family and they made me turn it off because it was so bad, and you should see their usual standards of televisual entertainment; that says it all. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member fairly poor film and a sad end to a great TV show. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/28/23 Full Review Audience Member Strong 3 stars. The traditional "On the Buses" setting takes a remodeling in this movie that sees Stan Butler, Jack Harper and Inspector Blake in a very different place due to certain mishaps at the depo. Getting jobs at a holiday village, Stan and Jack are back to their old routines in no time, looking for female company and bending the rules fast as they can. Stan's family unsurprisingly gets invited to the resort as well, yet there are quite a few interesting events ahead. There are a lot of good laughs in this movie, with unpredictable chains of events and borrowing very little from the original TV show in terms of plot devices. The new setting truly works for the best here, not taking away from the characters but giving them a chance to stretch their wings a little. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member worst of the three films from the TV sitcom looks as if the actors only turned up for the money Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Read all reviews
