When singing cowboy Gene Autry (Gene Autry) comes home to Gold Ridge, Wyo., he attracts the attention of reporter Hack Hackett (Chick Chandler) and photographer Clementine Benson (Fay McKenzie). In town to help his friend Pop Harrison (Forrest Taylor) control his rodeo star son, Tex (James Seay), whose gambling and drinking are getting out of hand, Gene tangles with a Chicago mobster (George Douglas) hiding out in the small town. When a murder occurs, it's up to Gene to solve the mystery.

Synopsis When singing cowboy Gene Autry (Gene Autry) comes home to Gold Ridge, Wyo., he attracts the attention of reporter Hack Hackett (Chick Chandler) and photographer Clementine Benson (Fay McKenzie).
