Maximiliano D @RT46443670 12h I think the desicion to make the movie boring as a stylistic choice did not go down well. I understand that the kiwi accent might be novel or funny cause it's not on TV much. But that's not enough to rest on for "comedy" So in all: dull and unfunny. I will say that they did a good job distressing a Tshirt in one scene. So well done to a person in costume for that. I wanted that white Tshirt with the collar rip. Very BALANCIAGA. Otherwise a waste of time. I had strong intuition that it was going to be bad too. When my partner put it on I asked "What made you put this on?" and he said he didn't know. He fell asleep from boredome ten minutes later. I unfortunately can't sleep as easy so I suffered through the film which expanded time endlessly. Absolute drivel. Why did I not turn it off? I believed in the actors. Nothing could save it though. I cant tell you which department is most at fault - it does seem like a collective effort to make a mid af movie. mid is generous. It was dogsh*t. See more S B @RT03121313 03/26/2025 What a film. Thoroughly enjoyed this Cohen brothers-esq dark comedy kiwi film. I was enthralled from start to finish. It was beautifully shot and really showcased Aotearoa as another member of the cast. Particularly enjoyed Josh McKenzie's fantastic role as the frustratingly annoying younger brother. I highly recommend giving this a go, you won't regret it. See more Chad R @RT16193188 12/31/2024 Great flick, loved the pacing. Had me both leaning in on the edge of my seat and having to look away. The beautiful NZ landscape as a canvas for an increasingly morbid story with each new twist ramping up the tension. Lots of layers with the son and the dad, husband and wife, two brothers, an aspiring and lovable yet inept cop, and you aren't quite sure who to root for. One of the best high quality on budget NZ cinema I have seen. For such an absurd premise, the movie makes it believable and doesn't trivialise it through slapstick. Humour comes in the natural NZ perspective rather than forced and unrealistic pratfalls. You are thinking "I can't believe he is doing that", not "there is no way he would do that". You are with the characters every step of the way, as much as you want to run away. Well done. More please. See more Eunice A @RT67119234 12/30/2024 Great movie. Dark and a bit funny See more Beron A @RT76307768 12/19/2024 Great film, fantastic scenery See more bo R @RT44744819 12/17/2024 Dark thriller that works. The strong New Zealand accents are kinda funny. Lots of swearing. Saw it on SBS. Recommend it if you like something bleak/humour See more Read all reviews
