Nick Allen RogerEbert.com While Hondros prevails with its intimate POV, it also makes for a wide-scope tribute to the profession of photojournalism. Rated: 3.5/4 Mar 2, 2018 Full Review Kenneth Turan Los Angeles Times Because of his long friendship with Hondros, director Campbell has gotten key people on camera ... Mar 1, 2018 Full Review Glenn Kenny New York Times If the movie doesn't go more than skin deep in interrogating questions about interventions both military and journalistic into the Middle East, it does succeed in opening up Mr. Hondros's contradiction-filled world. Mar 1, 2018 Full Review Erica Peplin Vague Visages The most successful scenes are when Campbell switches the focus away from Christopher’s life and onto the backstory of specific photographs. Dec 5, 2023 Full Review Christopher Llewellyn Reed Hammer to Nail May we all celebrate the work that he, and others like him, undertake for our collective benefit. May 29, 2019 Full Review Phil Guie Film-Forward.com If there already isn't a patron saint of war photographers, this thrilling, ultimately insightful film makes a strong case it should be Hondros. Audience Member I would admit that I am biased, with international journalism being a strong passion of mine, but this is one of my favorite documentaries that I have seen. It tells the story of a type of hero that we often don't think about, someone who's goal is to tell the stories of others. It brings up the emotions and contradictions of Hondros's job while also showing him as a person. It is emotional, compelling and devastating. It is not often when a documentary leaves me feeling like I should completely change the trajectory of my life, but this one has done that and more. A brilliant and brilliantly told story. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/26/23 Full Review Audience Member If only Greg Campbell’s moving, well-told account of the charming, history-changing photojournalist Chris Hondros were seen by the arrogant and ignorant fools who call deficated journalists “enemies of the people”, any of those dangerous fools with decency would hang their heads in shame. An incredible record of a time when journalists risking their lives could actually impact the public and shape history for the common good. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/19/18 Full Review Audience Member I dislike all types of war and conflict, buy I enjoyed this documentary. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 07/27/18 Full Review Audience Member Great movie about an epic photographer who thought his lens shielded him from most everything. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 04/04/18 Full Review Audience Member Inspiring. Not only tells his story, but also what it takes to be a force of nature type of photojournalist.
