this period pic set as the title suggests in 1941 was cheesy and uneven.

A woman narrates her personal story of the Japanese takeover of Hong Kong in 1941, and the two men who protected her. An inconsistent pace and an awkwardly placed ending do not spoil its nostalgia and attentiveness to character development and a genuinely heart warming story of friendship.

Old drama that is often painfully slow. Some good directing in parts, especially the chicken/katana scene near the end.

Biographical narrative from the perspective of the daughter of a wealthy land owner set against the occupation of Japanese forces in 1941 Hong Kong.
Chow Yun-Fat stands out with his usual charms.
Featuring some truly horrific scenes, it also plods along at other points without much purpose, making the whole of it tough to get through. The third act improved the quality.
I wanted to like it, but it was just paced too slowly given there was a lot of action to portray.

Interested story with interesting characters. Superb acting from Chow, Man and Yip who combines together to create this friendship story in surviving World War II in China while Japan invades. Beautiful cinematography with smooth editing and music.
