Scott Von Doviak AV Club An engaging slice of Americana that almost manages to make back-breaking physical exertion look like a hell of a good time. Rated: B+ Aug 2, 2011 Full Review Joe O'Connell Austin Chronicle Sometimes the race is secondary, Baaden and Hume tell us in this beautifully shot and heartfelt doc about an annual team running event from Oregon's Mount Hood, past Portland and on to the ocean's edge. Aug 2, 2011 Full Review Elizabeth Weitzman New York Daily News Can't get yourself off the couch? You'll find all the inspiration you need from this spirited look at Oregon's titular marathon. Rated: 3/5 Jul 15, 2011 Full Review Molly Templeton Eugene Weekly (OR) Lovingly pieced together from a patchwork of stories, Hood to Coast is gorgeously shot and cheerfully sincere. Feb 27, 2019 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru Heartfelt and stylishly edited with picturesque scenery, but it's often redundant, underwhelming and neither suspenseful nor insightful enough to be truly inspirational or captivating. Rated: 5.95/10 Jul 15, 2011 Full Review Frederic and Mary Ann Brussat Spirituality & Practice An amateurish and unappealing documentary about participants in a 197-mile relay race. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/15/23 Full Review Audience Member Very entertaining and interesting documentary that follows several teams on the 197 mile relay race. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/28/23 Full Review Audience Member A must see for anyone who has ever participated in this event. I enjoyed every second of this film Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/03/23 Full Review Audience Member covers 4 different teams and has a few interesting twists along the way. would've been nice to have seen more of the elite team. the flow of the documentary was nice. the out-of-order'ness of one particular scene had a nice impact. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/25/23 Full Review Audience Member Totally engaging, entirely fun, completely exhilarating and surprisingly hilarious. This wasn't a perfect film though. They did not at all discuss logistics, highlit few teams and individuals on the course, and spent way too much time with an overbearingly maudlin family who lost a loved one. Still, thrilling to the max and it was a pleasure seeing it in the theater with a bunch of fit people who didn't buy any of the concessions.
