Audience Member The action was good enough to be nominated for an HKFA, but Chan's "Who Am I?" won. There are some nice stunts, and the dock scene is cool, but it's mostly bad, dated effects. The ending is pretty sweet, complete with a paramotoring chase! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member A Futuristic Eastern Actionthriller with Tons of Breathtaking Action, wild Shootouts & Video-Game like Martial Arts and also Scenes with this beautiful Slow Asian Style Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Please someone kidnap Jingle Ma and brainwash him to get back to work as a director of photography and no longer as a director. A dreadful film in which the story and the characters are so uninteresting, it makes the (ok) action become dull. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 02/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Saw it a couple of years ago. A good plot, interesting characters and plenty of action. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/20/23 Full Review Audience Member From a time when the Hollywood remake of Mission: Impossible was the dopest, comes cinematographer Jingle Ma's directorial debut Hot War, accordingly armed with silly gadgets galore and made up tech-stuff. A movie as pseudo-serious as this needs some comic relief badly, which Hot War certainly has, albeit unintentional. Just thinking about Ekin Cheng delivering lines in English actually cracks me up. But really, Hot War has some pretty cool action scenes courtesy of the great Stephen Tung Wai, and after the incredibly silly set up (involving a giggling Kelly Chen trying to pass as some CIA-big shot, go figure), Ma takes this story into some rather unexpected territories. But will someone please tell me why Terence Yin always gets to play the bad guy? It's such a waste on all those good looks and charm, you know. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member This one is quite an enjoyable action movie. Ekin, Jordan and Kelly are 3 CIA agents, in charge of a secret project on training normal people into action pack agents through subliminal message. Terrorist captured a few experts in this field. The CIA project managed to make it almost perfect. On the wedding day of Jordan, the lead terrorist captured Kelly and killed Jordan's wife. The boss have no intention to save Kelly. Ekin and Jordan volunteer to go through the VR training to save Kelly. They succeed. Then their boss called Ekin to tell him the VR project has side effects which makes the person violent and see illusions. That happened to Jordan already, who was out on his own and got ambushed by the terrorist. He brutally killed the girlfriend of the terrorist. When all 3 tried to escaped, Jordan accidentally shot and killed Kelly. He ran and Ekin goes back and got brain-wash. The plot reveals that a financial consultan wanted to use the subliminal message into the broadcast of 1998 World Cup to create riots. He can earn loads of money if he make it work. Jordan went after the terrorist relentlessly and with Ekin help, he was killed. But Jordan ended his life because he suffers too much. Seeing his wife died and killing his best friend and also seeing his best friend who couldn't recognise him anymore. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
