Nyran S great fun. Life changing experience. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 05/17/23 Full Review Audience Member I've always been intrigued by this film. Hotel Inferno tries to be a computer game, it pulls it off relatively well, the acting is terrible but I feel this is somewhat done of purpose to make it feel like a game. In places it can be quite dull but the gore is done well and is very graphic. This is not a PG 13 film; imagine Duke Nukem in a game like Fear or Condemned with an extra slab of gore. Or and extremely gruesome Stanley's Parable-Evil Dead mix. The combination of first person, use of light and sound make this a genuinely creepy experience. Worth a watch, for all game and Horror enthusiasts. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member A clever idea (a first-person-shooter video game-style POV horror film, about a contract killing mission gone horribly awry) marred significantly by one simple problem: You can see the camera in every shiny surface it records. At first you see it in a cell phone reflection, then an elevator, and then it pops up so many times that, frankly, I'm surprised I didn't see it listed in the cast credits. It breaks your suspension of disbelief immediately, because it's so noticeable and constant. But other than that flaw, this was a pretty interesting (although I won't say "good") film, and at times actually does feel like you're watching a first-person-shooter game, with its purposefully silly voiceovers and balls-out crazy blood and guts FX. Whether or not the feeling of watching a video game is a good thing, however, is up to you. Put a PlayStation or Xbox controller in your hands while watching. Maybe that will help. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/29/23 Full Review Audience Member For starters, this movie plays out exactly like a fist person shooter video game. The tropes, the dialog, and obviously the camera angle and movement. There's little doubt what this movie is supposed to be and, in all honesty, it does it rather well. The whole first person thing has been tried to a much more limited extent in some movies. House Of The Dead and Doom come to mind. But in these movies it was more for the movie's denouement...a final showdown. In Hotel Inferno it's done throughout and it's kind of enjoyable. This isn't without it's drawbacks. The camera is jumpy, the dialog is on-par with a video game, and it lacks a bit of continuity. You'll find a 10 minute action sequence ended just to have some exposition on what happened and what will happen next. Again, exactly as you would in a video game. It's like finishing a mission and waiting for a cut scene to tell you what you did and what to do next, except it's a movie. This gets a bit old even if you follow the premise. For a movie with this budget the special effects are actually quite well done. Gore fans will undoubtedly appreciate the over-the-top violence and gore and others will probably just laugh at the preposterousness of it all. Either way, the special effects team absolutely did the most with what they had. All in all it's a relatively enjoyable movie if you know what you're in for (and have a six pack of your preferred adult beverage available). It's something a little new but absolutely not without it's flaws. Is it perfect? No. Is it a bit of fun to watch with some friends? Absolutely. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/23 Full Review Audience Member For the gore only. Occasionally fun but comes off like Sam Raimi and the first Resident Evil game had a baby. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review lovro h This is the first movie I've seen that was shot in only first person view. And it was awesome! That's the only reason I even saw the movie, actually. If it wasn't for the first person view, the movie would've sucked even more. It starts off nicely. But then gets lost in all the ridiculous gore and blood and it doesn't make sense. It's mostly just the main character going around the hotel, running from enemies and killing them. I was very suprised by the ammount of gore and blood, and I wouldn't recommend this movie to those who can't stand gore and get easily sick.
