This film does entertain occasionally, but otherwise, it caves in on itself. Sometimes the special effects work; other times, they're horrendous Go to Full Review

[A] highly preposterous kitchen sink film which seems made up as it goes along. Go to Full Review

Between pastiche and parody, unable to find the right tone or rhythm... the result is a tremendously boring and bland film. [Full Review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

House II doesn't even have much true horror, and the stuff we do get is decidedly tame in contrast to the rest of the series. Go to Full Review

House II doesn't quite have anything similar to the strong performance of the original's Bill Katt anchoring the picture, but it still has plenty to make it a worthwhile follow-up that's definitely worth watching. Go to Full Review

Maksim S Nov 24 House II tries to recreate the quirky charm of the original despite the story having no connection, but ends up feeling like a chaotic grab-bag of ideas with no real direction. Dinosaurs, cowboys, zombies — the film throws everything at the wall, hoping something sticks, but the result is more frantic than fun. Its humor is broad, its stakes nonexistent, and the story never settles on a tone long enough to build any tension or meaning. There’s creativity here, but it’s unfocused, leaving the sequel feeling lightweight and forgettable. Entertaining in passing, but ultimately a misfire that misunderstands what made House work in the first place. See more Nick O May 26 Has nothing to do with the first House movie, which is fine because it soars just fine on it's own bizarre premise. Amazing zombie cowboy performance by Royal Dano just adds to the appeal of this off the wall horror comedy. See more Blu B 04/18/2024 I don't even know what to say here....this is just bizarre nonsense. To try and make any sense of the story, characters, or anything is just a futile endeavor. I will say the first 4 minutes is nothing but a tease as you think this is going to be a solid haunted house horror film and than it becomes a horror comedy, pure comedy, fantasy, adventure, and why not throw a western in for good measure. Shocked there wasn't a musical end credit number. The humor it goes for is just surreal. The story is so nonsensical because it moves so freakin fast it literally will forget the last scene it was just on about and not come back to it at all until randomly 20 minutes later. Rinse and repeat. I'm all for turning your brain and off and having a good time but there has to be SOME semblance of sanity. This just has nothing. If you forced me to explain the story to someone I genuinely could'nt. Skip this completely. See more David P 07/30/2023 Watched this movie a lot as a kid. To this day it's still my favorite of the series. It's kind of all over the place, mixing genres, but it still has its charm and is amusing nonetheless. See more 05/30/2021 This underrated video store gem from the 80's is a radically different take to the franchise and is more of an action-adventure comedy than horror. A highly entertaining roller coaster that tops itself by pushing how insane the next scene can be. Also a good movie for kids if you want a soft introduction to 80's horror. See more Read all reviews
