Kate Muir Times (UK) In How to Marry a Millionaire, directed by John Negulesco, there is the triple delight of Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable and Lauren Bacall in one movie -- and one apartment. Rated: 4/5 Jun 4, 2015 Full Review Dave Kehr Chicago Reader The stars save this 1953 entry, through fruitful collision if not smooth collaboration. Aug 29, 2014 Full Review Variety Staff Variety A real standout among the other players is William Powell as the elderly Texas rancher who woos, wins and then gives up Bacall. Mar 26, 2009 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Nothing much is demanded from the performers, but some of the dialogue is quite humorous – along with some fitting repetition (and related segues) that aids the love stories that stick. Rated: 5/10 Sep 16, 2024 Full Review Rachel Wagner Rachel's Reviews (YouTube) An underrated screwball comedy classic Nov 6, 2023 Full Review David Nusair Reel Film Reviews ...a mostly engaging and entertaining comedy... Tamara K Another bad film from the 1950's which assumes the best a woman can do in life is marry a rich man. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/03/24 Full Review Leaburn O Another Monroe film about marrying a rich man. The early 50s seemed to be obsessed with this issue. Not great but some banter along the way. Watched on a DVD that hung around the house for an age. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/16/23 Full Review Alec B Madcap antics are promised, and what we get is a dull and largely forgettable romantic comedy. To waste Monroe, Grable, Bacall and Powell in this manner is unforgivable. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/10/23 Full Review notchurjelly Love or Money? If you've ever been on the fence, you'd love this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/21/23 Full Review CodyZamboni Z Amusing comedy, bright performances, Marilyn Monroe is absolutely stunningly beautiful in this movie. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 07/24/24 Full Review david f This comedy about 3 models who move into a temporary apartment in New York City in the Fifties with a plan to find Millionaire husbands is a funny entertainment. Marilyn Monroe shows she is a particularly gifted comedienne with her part of a near-sighted woman too reluctant to wear her glasses for fear of a man rejecting her over her looks. This leads to increasingly funny disasters-first when she walks into a wall in her own apartment, next when she's spotted reading a hardcover book upside down, and finally when-I shouldn't spoil it but I must-she boards a plane for Atlantic City, only to learn, halfway to her destination, that she got on a plan to Kansas City. Very funny movie with some great scenery of New York City, its skylines and river views, at its finest. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Read all reviews
