Kate Muir Times (UK) In How to Marry a Millionaire, directed by John Negulesco, there is the triple delight of Marilyn Monroe, Betty Grable and Lauren Bacall in one movie -- and one apartment. Leaburn O Another Monroe film about marrying a rich man. The early 50s seemed to be obsessed with this issue. Not great but some banter along the way. Watched on a DVD that hung around the house for an age. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/16/23 Full Review Alec B Madcap antics are promised, and what we get is a dull and largely forgettable romantic comedy. To waste Monroe, Grable, Bacall and Powell in this manner is unforgivable. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 11/10/23 Full Review notchurjelly Love or Money? If you've ever been on the fence, you'd love this movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/21/23 Full Review david f This comedy about 3 models who move into a temporary apartment in New York City in the Fifties with a plan to find Millionaire husbands is a funny entertainment. Marilyn Monroe shows she is a particularly gifted comedienne with her part of a near-sighted woman too reluctant to wear her glasses for fear of a man rejecting her over her looks. This leads to increasingly funny disasters-first when she walks into a wall in her own apartment, next when she's spotted reading a hardcover book upside down, and finally when-I shouldn't spoil it but I must-she boards a plane for Atlantic City, only to learn, halfway to her destination, that she got on a plan to Kansas City. Very funny movie with some great scenery of New York City, its skylines and river views, at its finest. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review farah r No one does classic comedies like Marilyn Monroe. Every single one of her movies is delightful thanks to her beautiful face and charming personality. How to Marry a Millionaire sees her team up with Lauren Bacall for a funny and immensely entertaining movie where the title says it all.
