Audience Member Having Mickey Rooney around elevates this sequel. Many rank it at the bottom of the Beach Party franchise but I'd say it's right in the middle for me, thanks largely to the performances. I do wish Frankie were around more and I feel the final "actin sequence" (the motorcycle race) is a confusing mess of shots that isn't nearly as fun as the filmmakers intended it to be. But I can forgive most of the flaws since it's such an innocent, harmless good time. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/22/23 Full Review Audience Member This is what you get when you have 50 year old writers trying to decipher how teenagers act in the 1960s. By the way, this is NOT how teenagers acted, talked, or dressed in the 1960s. Teenagers had no idea who Mickey Rooney was and had certainly never heard of Buster Keaton. The plot is ridiculous and even a high school drop out could probably have done better. Scriptwriters should have been required to spend at least a day at the beach watching teenagers having fun. This movie bears absolutely no resemblance to what teenagers would be doing. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/16/23 Full Review Audience Member Yep, it's another silly Beach Party film from director William Asher. Annette Funicello is back, but Dwayne Hickman steps in for Frankie as the leading man, tough Frankie does have a small cameo. Brian Donlevy, Mickey Rooney and series regulars Harvey Lembeck and Buster Keaton also appear. Elizabeth Montgomery also appears in a bit part as one of Keaton's daughters, which she reportedly did as a favor for her husband, director Asher. You don't really need to know the story, but it's all pretty enjoyable if you like this sort of film, which I do. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/31/23 Full Review Audience Member bizarre and not in a good way Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member I'd have to agree that this is the strangest of the Beach Party movies. However, the strangeness is what makes it good. It is silly, funny, and the songs are sort of good too. You'd have to see the other Beach movies in order to understand some of the jokes and whatnot. But standing alone, it is a good movie. Not to be taken seriously, of course. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/18/23 Full Review Audience Member "She wore a Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini", Oh the Silly Wonderful Songs, the Big Hair,Buster Keaton & Mickey Rooney, & lets not forget the Magic Bikini in this one.Nothing serious in this Movie, it's just Beach Keen Fun Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/19/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
