Allie F I really loved the first movie - there were so many memorable parts! It felt like this one took a bit to warm up to things, and the sense of awe and cuteness didn't quite hit me as much as in the first movie. But still lovable and entertaining! Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/04/22 Full Review Aidan B With plenty of action, heart, and an unforgettable story with memorable characters, new and old, "How to Train Your Dragon 2" is the rare sequel to a perfect movie that manages to be just as good. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/22/24 Full Review Tate Dean H I really love this movie because it is beautiful and sad and I love this movie Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/17/24 Full Review Audience Member I don't think that there's any surprises that I enjoyed this movie just as much as the last one. First of all, the CGI in this film is absolutely amazing, everything looks completely realistic at this point. And I see that they changed the models as well to make them more grown up. And I see that it takes place just about 5 years after the events of the first movie. And the whole story alone is pretty awesome. I was so happy for hiccup when he saw his mom again, but it was not as he expected. It turns out that Hiccup wasn't the only one who knew something that the rest of Berk didn't. Valka also thought it was possible to have peace with the dragons, but no one listened and that's why she stayed away. And the designs for the new dragons are fire. Especially the Bewilderbeast. Drago was a pretty cool villain. And another thing I love about this movie is that I also realized that it also tried to be consistent with Dragons Riders/Defenders Of Berk. Overall this movie is awesome. However, it kind of had a much darker and serious tone to be honest. Because I still can't believe Stoick died, man. As if God forbid the fact that Toothless was brainwashed and forced to kill hiccup and instead killed Stoick was sad enough. I think if he didn't die at all, I would love the movie a lot more. Not to mention that some parts of the movie just felt a little somewhat bland for no reason. But hey, despite that, there's no reason that this film shouldn't deserve a 10/10. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/17/24 Full Review Adri Pov: DreamWorks demostrando que es el REY DE LA ANIMACIÓN haciendo SECUELAS. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 03/22/24 Full Review Conrad C The story and the world are advanced in meaningful ways, and half the fun of this movie is seeing the aged-up characters. The relationships in the movies have the familiarity that the time elapsed between films would have lent them, giving an authenticity to their interactions. Toothless's personality really emerges in this film, proving that your favorite character doesn't have to have any speaking lines. Dialogue turned out to be the biggest challenge for this movie, the side characters' lines felt as if they were written for a weekly tv show episode. Above all else, though, this movie was nothing less than epic and a worthy successor to its exceptional predecessor. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 03/21/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Charlotte O'Sullivan London Evening Standard The characters in this movie are charmers. They've got me so well-trained, I'm even looking forward to HTTYD3. Rated: 3/5 Jul 11, 2014 Full Review Leslie Felperin Radio Times It has a richness that's highly compelling, especially in the way it explores the complex relationship between man and beast. Rated: 4/5 Jul 11, 2014 Full Review Geoffrey Macnab Independent (UK) The filmmakers borrow freely from Avatar, Sword In The Stone and even Brave but they bring enough vigour and imagination to their storytelling to get away with it. Rated: 4/5 Jul 10, 2014 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review Being at once a self-contained story and a continuation of a franchise that betters and grows more intricate than what came before, the film meets all the requirements of a great sequel. Rated: 3.5/4 Aug 15, 2022 Full Review Richard Crouse Richard Crouse High on spectacle and never wastes an opportunity to entertain the eye and up the wonder factor, but it's not just shock and awe. An emotional subplot regarding family adds some weight to the fantasy elements of the story.
