Audience Member Jay Rosenblatt creates an exceptionally eerie "documentary" of some of the most reviled and controversial leaders in history not by detailing their crimes against humanity, but by disclosing to you their loves and passions, their afflictions and their habits. It's an interesting way of humanizing these figures of "evil" and of creating an altogether unsettling result that I just love the shit out of. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a brilliant documentary. Funny in some way, but also a little disturbing because we don't really know the fact if some of those dictators really had one testicle. The editing and the use of raw footage really is the interesting aspect of the movie, it made me want to know more about those dictators and I think it can influence other people the same way to do some research like it did to me. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/24/23 Full Review Audience Member Very interesting "first-person" accounts on the personal lives of the world's most heinous dictators -- Hitler, Franco, Mussolini, Stalin, and Mao-Tse-Tung. Lots of tidbits about habits and health issues. Done in a documentary style with grainy newsreel clips and homemovies. My only question is how much of it is factual and how much is rumor and legend. Because the "first person accounts" were voiced by actors, not the actual men, it's hard to know for sure. But fascinating nonetheless. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review Audience Member I can definitely see what the filmmakers were trying to do. They want to show the human side of each of these horrible people. Really, the audience can see the motivation of each of these rulers due to the problems of their personal lives. Now lets go back and look at the stupidity of the ones who actually got them there in the first place. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
