CadeandKit R @CadeandKit Dec 10 Climate Collapse, Cronenberg Vibes & Family Betrayal A slick, unsettling, and surprisingly emotional sci-fi horror flick now streaming on Amazon Prime. Directed by Caitlin Cronenberg (yes, that Cronenberg family), this one has major festival polish and a premise that feels... way too close for comfort. Think Succession meets Snowpiercer. "Voluntary" becomes... not so voluntary. Old secrets + global crisis = one intense night!! The entire film takes place over 24 hours in a single mansion, which makes the claustrophobia real. Add in some sharp direction, smart cuts, and moral gray zones and you’ve got a tight, darkly funny, deeply disturbing genre piece. It’s not trying to be action-packed or effects-heavy. This is high-concept horror done with precision and character tension. Everyone has something to hide. Everyone is trying to survive. And the reveal on who’s going to be "sacrificed"? Brutal. More of a thriller with a message though the two don't often mix well in this mostly watchable and slightly fork in cheek debut from David Cronenberg's daughter. A bad screen play. Poor acting. A movie that feels like a stage play that went wrong, so they called it a black comedy, but there is nothing funny about trying to get a rich family to knock each other off, and everyone keeps surviving. But they keep trying ..... Tedious humor. This movie was Dead On Arrival. This movie was Inhumane. See more Murray C Jul 13 Entertaining dystopian satire wikth an intriguing premise and some excellent darkly comic performances, notably from Bob, the principal antagonist. If the social commentary occasionally misfires and some of the direction is a bit clumsy, that's OK. Couldve just given the money spent for this piece of crap to feed the poor. The irony. Who tf created those ratings for this dumbly and lack-of-life-experience-and-emotional-connection written movie.
