HUMANE takes place over a single day, mere months after a global ecological collapse has forced world leaders to take extreme measures to reduce the earth's population. In a wealthy enclave, a recently retired newsman has invited his grown children to dinner to announce his intentions to enlist in the nation's new euthanasia program. Critics Consensus

Humane's twisted psychological thrills are diverting enough in the moment to distract from its occasionally awkward attempts to balance sociopolitical commentary against high-concept horror.

John Anderson Wall Street Journal Hardcore horror fans will get their dose of mayhem from Humane, though in its modest, tidily organized fashion the film might also get under the skin. Jul 25, 2024 Full Review Sergio Burstein Los Angeles Times Beyond the lack of subtlety of the message and the lack of depth of the characters, Cronenberg manages to make the proceedings entertaining and handles the actions well within this unique environment. [Full review in Spanish] May 7, 2024 Full Review Owen Gleiberman Variety Cronenberg treats the mansion as an enormous stage set, turning “Humane” into a kind of psychodramatic slasher movie. Apr 29, 2024 Full Review Dennis Harvey 48 Hills An offbeat misfire... Jul 29, 2024 Full Review Jonathan DeHaan Nightmare on Film Street Humane is a tight debut from Caitlin Cronenberg, and a delicate balancing act of humor and horrifying ideas. A modern science-fiction thriller that you can't help but get sucked into immediately. Rated: 7/10 Jul 23, 2024 Full Review Rocco T. Thompson Daily Dead Though the finale feels a bit too neat and tidy, the film’s grim humor functions like a balm when the questions it raises get too real. djangles m Wanted to be politically and socioeconomically conscious, then didn't. Then wanted to be again, the whole time ruining a great premise for a movie. Feel bad for the actors because they deserved better. Never left a review before but was genuinely disappointed by what could have been. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 09/28/24 Full Review Harris T Great cast and premise, but falls apart after the first death. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 09/20/24 Full Review Anonymous S Politics aside, horror movies are completely boring when you don't care if a single character lives, and the only characters who were potentially likable had very little screen time. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 09/15/24 Full Review Steven t Good dark comedy, thriller. The only part I didn't like was the in credits clip which didn't make sense with last scene. Liked it ! Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/01/24 Full Review Horror fan 4 A very intense and enjoyable horror movie. The backstabbing alone is worth the watch. Tim Treakle Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 08/12/24 Full Review Valerii Ege D Humane takes a classic theme and deepens it by using a potential dystopian environmental issue, making it conceptually creative but mediocre in terms of action. However, I must say that I appreciate the film for its effective use of its dystopian setting to create suspense. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 07/31/24 Full Review Read all reviews
