Carlos Ovalle But Why Tho? A Geek Community The slow-burn aspect of this movie might turn off some, but if you like atmospheric thrillers with a dark and gritty undertone, you’ll be right at home with I Am All the Girls even though it telegraphs its every move. Anna J A great revenge film on such a tragic truth. A must see. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/05/24 Full Review John D The movie is pretty straight forward and is about vigilante justice for the child trafficking business. Storyline is solid and actors are excellent and believable. The gritty part of this movie is acceptable and touches our heart on the hopelessness of normal beings. The only problem I see is the target of ultimate villains, which this movie choose only Iran royals. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 11/27/23 Full Review Rudy v It is a film every family has to see what dangers are lurking for their kids one day. The film is well written and keeps you glued to your seat. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/14/23 Full Review Kit V The story is as old as the human race, disadvantaged, often poor and innocent young girls being taken by powerful and evil men for pleasure. In doing so they inflict more pain than they can imagine and the victims rarely have a voice. This movie however tries to give voice to those who cannot speak and does it rather well. If your looking for Hollywood here think again, this film has none of the usual feel-good endings, big role stars or a music script to suit instead it tells a story plain and simple and it does this rather well if somewhat in a single pointed way. A woman abused as a child takes revenge on those who did the deed but does not make the mistake of thinking that this is a revenge movie because it is not designed to enable the viewer to celebrate the heros reign of terror, instead the viewer becomes the witness. The acting is wooden but in this case, it is supposed to be, the story here is what is important not the actors and they know that fact. Shot in Johannesburg one gets the feel of the city the people and the landscape of the 1980s and for someone from Europe, this was an eye-opener into a part of the world that I know little about apart from news reels. In the end, the film left me rather saddened I hoped for a happy ending but it never came, instead I was hot with the cold facts of how many young people go missing and how rife trafficking is even today. Do watch this one, put the blockbusters to one side for an hour or two and see the pain of trafficking through the eyes of the victim. May God bless those girls and may we find a way to end this vile trade. This movie represents a slice of realism in a genre that is often misrepresented and given over to Hollywood sleaze. A smoking gun of a movie if you go with the shots. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/12/23 Full Review Antonio G This is a must see in the "revenge" genre movie topic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/06/23 Full Review martin f The movie starts as a pretty dark drama with unexpected directions but slowly turns into a generic thriller with a little too many uninspired moments. It starts as an incendiary take on child traffic networks, it ends with the story of a woman becoming badass in front of the adversity and the conspirations surrounding her. It is uncomfortable as the movie has a very dark subject that needs to be told with care so it doesn't become too exploitative which it's unfortunately what happens towards at the end. The two main actresses are talented. Mboya is cold but still very expressive in her role and Wessels plays perfectly her character's breakdown. I would say though that Wessels' character, Jodie, also the main protagonist in the movie, is useless. I would even add that she makes everything worse. Every time, her character chooses the reckless way, and in doing so she turns other good protagonists' plans into chaos in the worst imaginable way. Countless times, you just said to yourself that if she wasn't there everything would have ended fine. I'm not sure why the story needed this kind of character... There is also what seems to be a shyness in front of the two main protagonists having a lesbian relationship together. It is intended multiple times that they are a couple, or at least having an affair but the movie avoids any kiss, hug, or loving gesture, just some holding hands and very "wink you miss it" moments. I understand that it doesn't always need to be explicit but it does make their relationship shallow and their final scene together misses the desired impact because of that.
