It has all the vibes of depression's claws sinking into you and never letting go. I love the aesthetic and cinematography. It's just so good. See more Logan D Oct 21 A teenage diagnosed sociopath (Max Records) who's obessed with death and serial killers suspects a supernatural entity is killing persons in his town. Hidden Gem! I loved the focus on morality and the struggle between internal vs external darkness. A grounded character study with a wry script. It's a genre mash-up that can't clearly be delineated in any single one. Records (you probably last saw him in Where the Wild Things Are) is amazing in his role. I'm surprised I haven't seen him in more films. Christopher Lloyd is also present with his expected skills. Highly recommended See more W.L. C @WayneCampbell Aug 26 I saw this pop up on a friend's Facebook page and, having been involved in features himself, I trusted his judgement. And I'm glad I did! Plenty has already been written about the plot, so I won't go too deep into it. That being said, the film is fully underrated. The pacing is excellent, the story keeps one engaged, and the reviewers that keep stating there were characters we didn't need and scenes that needed to be cut are just flat-out wrong. Yes, there are some moments that feel like the first take or something from a high school A/V project, but it's ultimately a well-done horror thriller that gives more than it takes. Led by strong performances from an at times haunting Chriropher Lloyd and youngster Max Records, a well paced plot keeps you engrossed and on your toes for the entirety of the movie. You do need to set aside your questioning of why some of the characters do certain things (and make decisions which would seem contradictory to common sense), but overall this is an entertaining movie with a unique and creepy premise.
