Ronnie Scheib Variety Reznick's sound design effectively jangles nerves, and two setpieces trumpet his visual prowess: a languid lovemaking scene lit by indirect flashlight and a tour-de-force musical number. Feb 24, 2010 Full Review Andrew O'Hehir Salon.com There's no way to explain that until you see the movie, which goes from comic-realistic mode into full-on psycho meltdown with more terrifying adroitness than any other movie of this decade. Feb 24, 2010 Full Review Nathan Lee New York Times The filmmaker Graham Reznick arrives with a bang in his feature debut, the experimental horror film I Can See You. Audience Member It's barely bloody, not sadistic, and not jumpy. It's the sort of horror your mind creates while dreaming about familiar objects and people. It's about the relationship between what is seen/barely seen/not seen and what is heard. For the artist, it's the terror/pain of their artistic process. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/23 Full Review Audience Member Fever dream fever dream prettiest one I ever seen Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/08/23 Full Review Audience Member The mismatched elements work like a dog here. If you need a by-the-numbers comfort this is not for you. If you want a screenplay that goes out on a limb you will love it. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/23/23 Full Review Audience Member "The lengthy run-up is tedious and unpromising." It's so disappointing I almost turned it off, but I was curious about the 100% Tomatometer. It's an experiment gone wrong until the last 15 minutes. Even then, the noteworthy visuals are spoiled by ear-splitting feedback. Reznik "ultimately opts for Brakhage over butchery" Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/21/23 Full Review Audience Member Art-horror? Metaphysical thriller? Capital/industrial/societal indictment? Cinematography was interesting, the sound editing succeeded at keeping you off balance (if that was in fact the goal), but if failed on every other level. Trying way to hard to be an "indie film with meaning", it was all surface flash with no depth. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/19/23 Full Review Audience Member It's times like this that I am amazed by my patience. I don't think 9 out of 10 people could have made it through this. Started off somewhat OK for a low-budget indie film but got dumber and dumber as it went. By the conclusion it had degraded into a full bore explosion of overwrought douchebaggery.
