Simon Abrams RogerEbert.com “I Did It My Way” exemplifies the current state of mass-oriented Hong Kong genre cinema, leaning hard on its seasoned cast to both remind viewers of better movies and carry this one around the bases fast enough that you still get your money’s worth. Rated: 2.5/4 Jan 12, 2024 Full Review Chris Sawin Bounding Into Comics I Did It My Way feels like a big-budget soap opera. These actors are all playing the same character. The film literally has one decent action sequence while the rest of the film is devoted to to choppy CSI editing and looking contemplative on rooftops. Rated: 2/5 Jan 16, 2024 Full Review Sarah Manvel Critic's Notebook Unfortunately the balance between beautifully choreographed warehouse shootouts and montages of cool kids trying to buy pills via livestream never comes right. Jan 13, 2024 Full Review Casey Chong ScreenHK It’s hard to believe this is the work from Jason Kwan, missing much of his directorial prowess in the crime action genre that he successfully showcased in the first two Chasing the Dragon. Rated: 2/5 Jan 12, 2024 Full Review Daniel Eagan Film Legacy It's an Andy Lau vehicle, but Gordon Lam Ka Tung is the real attraction in I Did It My Way. Jan 10, 2024 Full Review Avi Offer NYC Movie Guru A clunky, bland, convoluted and exhausting crime thriller. In a double feature with Infernal Affairs it would be the inferior B-movie. BITCOIN TO THE MOON Support HK Movies !!! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/21/24 Full Review JLam J I THINK THE MOVIE WAS AMMMMAZING LUV DA AMOUNT OF ACTION SCENE LITTLE BIT GRAPHIC BUT I CAN HANDLE IT SAD TO SEEE ANDY LAU DIED AT THE END MEANING IF THERE WAS A PART 2 HE WOULDN'T PLAY AS MAIN PROTAGONIST Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/28/24 Full Review Blak C "I Did It My Way" passes the litmus test on being an entertaining "cop vs. gangster" thriller. Strong performances elevate it slightly past being a generic thriller. Jason Kwan's flashy, video game sensibilities prove to be both the film's best friend and worst enemy. A mix of tonal shifts mixed with clunky sound mixing essentially prevents the film from being great. For what it does well, "I Did It My Way" is passable as a good thriller and for what it does wrong, its sins are somewhat forgiven by the time the audience reaches its final, climactic showdown. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/18/24 Full Review Moody C Not really clear story or action here and cg baby was so creepy. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 01/17/24 Full Review Lucas W This movie felt like a cash grab. No character building and plot was so predictable. Forgot all the characters' names during and after movie. Just remembered "Andy Lau's character did predictable things". Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 01/15/24 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating
