Alyx Vesey Bitch Media Je tu il elle illustrates why the enthusiastic fandom and hushed reverence it receives it feels earned. Jan 11, 2021 Full Review Scott Nye Battleship Pretension After returning to Europe and making Le 15/8, Akerman had a greater sense of herself and what she wanted to accomplish with film, which is on full display in Je tu il elle. Jan 24, 2024 Full Review Mattie Lucas From the Front Row A deeply personal evocation of queer humanity, grappling with both painful and banal experiences that strip it of its exoticism and examines the life of a queer woman with a keen emotional acuity. Kevin L Nothing for me here, really. Seemed like a film student project. Painfully slow in its pacing. Is this, what you call...da boredom? AKA 'ennui'? The first 20+ min. is just the main character moving her furniture around until she's laying on a mattress of the floor. Only dialogue really is this long bit of a guy driving and truck and talking about his kid and the women he has casual sex with. The final scene may well have the least convincing semblance of sex I've ever seen? Nothing erotic about it. Was that the point? Seriously, I've seen porn more convincing. Was this some comment on the French sub-bourgeosie? You know how they love to go on about the bourgeosie in their art. 2 stars I suppose. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 02/15/25 Full Review Frans G Artist (Chantal Akerman) explores her needs and state of being. That goes through other persons. Remarkably slow film with awkward moments and an extraordinary lovemaking. With patience and attention, there is plenty to enjoy. A unique document. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 05/20/24 Full Review PridePosterStudios Unforgivably long scenes. You can pretend that eating sugar out of a bag is killing the game…but it’s not! Rated 1 out of 5 stars 05/09/24 Full Review Mikey H I feel so connected when I watch an Akerman film, it's like all words I can use to describe this feeling would just undersell it. She's simply just the greatest. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 07/29/23 Full Review s r Artsy, but it does have some poignancy to show the loneliness of finding oneself. Saw it on TCM. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I was watching on TCM this morning. All I could think of is WTF am I watching? Not art garbage.
