The Meltdown isn’t a great film by any means, but as an Ice Age sequel, it works well enough. It introduces new characters while expanding the scope and size of the universe, while also actually having a premise centered around the Ice Age. But, once again, nothing too terribly deep or insightful is at play here, there are far too many subplots going on here, and the story is once again pretty basic. It’s a decent time with some fun characters. I don't get what all the criticism is about. Yeah, the cast of characters did become a little crowded but I feel like the movie makes up for the crowdedness. The fact that Manny and Ellie might be the last mammoths on the planet is a cool concept that I would say is very engaging.
