William S Childhood favorite! I used to watch this on WGN as a kid . It's cheesy and corny. But alot of fun . Total classic. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/07/24 Full Review Doug H It's actually a decent movie. It is cliche, but entertaining. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/31/24 Full Review J D Just s fun movie. A time capsule of movie cinema's. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 06/26/23 Full Review Joseph N It is a really good movie and Rotten Tomatoes dose not know a good movie when they see it Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/26/23 Full Review Kathy C I loved it when I was 32 and I still love it forty years later. Campy fun and visually dazzling. Bossy Princess, Firm Princess Attractive Princess, Hot Princess No Royalty, Royalty Rebels, No Rebels Wookie, no wookie Fun Clean movie, Fun Dirty movie As for Light Sabers and Sword, that is comparing any ray gun to pistols. Does that make any future movie a western? The in fighting and name calling that the movie studio execs had at the time did a huge disservice to this movie. Their labelling that this was a Star War like movie also does not fit and yet, it seems to carry weight with people when it has no merit. The better analogy would be a comparison to Battlestar Galactica in terms of finding Earth. I would be surprised if this version is not as good as the original version of the script. Since they rewrote it due to the infighting, I am willing to bet, it was not as good as the first. It is a shame that this movie was never given the chance and never got the recognition from the audience it deserved. I rather enjoyed the flow of the movie and the interaction with the androids as a side line. This movie had a lot of lost potential by being made under such a hostile environment. The corporate office is at fault for this movie not having done better. It was a completely different take than Star Trek, Star Wars, or any other fan favorite move then or now. Alan Jones Starburst Ice Pirates is silly, crude, inventive fun that is good- natured and off-the-wall enough to produce a rollicking good time. Aug 1, 2022 Full Review Matt Brunson Creative Loafing For a far superior mix of science fiction and satire, just watch Mel Brooks' Spaceballs again.
