The best stand-up comedy catches you off guard... It needs pace and an element of surprise. Iliza Shlesinger has plenty of the first - galloping through candid revelations about life as a woman - but not enough other factors that make comedy work.

At 35, she's at the upper end of the Millennial generation as it's commonly defined, and she tailors her act toward women younger than her, even if it appears or sounds as if her audience may also have aged past the foibles of younger women.

I tend to get bored with female comedians as its almost always about sex and relationships but she's smart and funny and has improved a ton since Last Comic Standing. I thoroughly enjoyed it.
