Audience Member When one of his high-society friends (MacGregor) is arrested for murdering a nightclub singer who was threatening to blackmail him (Anderson), dashing gossip columnist Tommy Tilton (Forbes) sets about capturing the real killer. "I'll Name the Murderer" is remarkable only for its perfect blandness. The story, the acting, the musical numbers performed at the nightclub... everything is perfectly average and utterly forgettable. The only remarkable performer here is Marion Shilling, who plays the boyish news-photographer 'Smitty'. She cleans up really nice, however, and it's a shame that she quit movies in 1936., with this being one of her last roles. I can't recommend this movie, but I won't steer you away from it, either. Just know you'll find yourself forgetting what you watched moments after ejecting the DVD from the player.
