Chase at least acknowledges his capacity for cruelty... and repeatedly jokes that those moments should be cut from the film. They are not, and their inclusion makes for a far more compelling portrait of a deeply flawed but enormously funny man.

A good reminder that we are human possible of possessing many different traits and imperfect beings. He could be funny, arrogant, kind, sensitive, hurtful, regretful, mean, clever, depressed, loving, selfish, empathetic, etc. This man was many things and it’s heart warming that he had this chance to be understood a little after being cancelled for so long.

I was curious how they would approach who is this often-polarizing figure of a man, and frankly I quite enjoyed the balance struck here. They didn't pull punches, and weren't afraid to take some too. I found myself glued to the screen and wanting more. Definitely check it out!

Kudos for the work it took to make this. Painful to watch at times in a "say it ain’t so" kind of way. Would have liked more interviews with the original core SNL cast.

Chevy is his own worst enemy and his biggest fan. The documentary is at its most interesting when Chevy is not on screen doing schtick that is no longer funny. Overall, it’s just sad and cringy.

The film does not include Ken Shapiro's "Channel 101" comedy theater or "The Groove Tube" movie starring Chevy, two early groundbreaking sketch comedy projects that predated SNL. Chevy used many of the bits from Groove Tube including the news spoof on the first season of SNL. This documentary also omits the "National Lampoon Radio hour" which starred Chevy, Gilda Radner, John Belushi, Christopher Guest and Bill Murray. The sketch comedy radio show also predated SNL, Lampoon head writers and close friends of Chevy's, Micheal O'Donoghue and Doug Kenney, are not referenced in the documentary.
