Radical 81-year-old Nat Moyer (Walter Matthau) spends most of his time talking and arguing with his old friend Midge Carter (Ossie Davis) on a bench in Central Park. When Midge's job as a superintendent is threatened by the conversion of the apartment building where he works into a co-op, Nat impersonates a lawyer to help him out -- one of many disguises he assumes in his quest for social justice. Globe and Mail Rated: 2.5/4 Apr 12, 2002 Full Review Andy Seiler USA Today This is good stuff. Unfortunately, director Herb Gardner is a little too fond of writer Herb Gardner's script, which just keeps going and going and going -- until even two old pros such as Walter and Ossie have worn out their welcome. william s Gardner did the impossible....make us sick of listening to two wonderful actors.100% the director/writers fault. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member This is a hilarious, invigorating movie. Herb Gardner's script is great, so far beyond the crap that is pumped out these days. Sorry the supposed critic "Fred Topel" thought this was "depressing." I didn't know a critic's rating of a movie was supposed to be based on whether a movie made him feel warm and cuddly inside. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/09/23 Full Review Audience Member Thought it was a great movie. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/16/23 Full Review Audience Member This felt like it was based on a play...one of the long, "meaningful" ones that are more about wandering around a character than telling a story. Those have never really appealed to me, and the narrative here isn't enough to keep the movie going. Walter Matthau is good, as he usually is, but every five minutes of this movie felt like an hour. Without the energy of live performance, there's nothing to keep this movie on its feet. Rated 1.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member When I 1st saw I'm Not Rappaport, I wasn't too impressed but after seeing it again yesterday after all this time, It was better then what I remembered.Walter Matthau & Ossie Davis were great together Rated 3 out of 5 stars 01/23/23 Full Review Audience Member I really enjoyed this. It was light and funny, but philosophical and questioning too. It doesn't have a lot of action, though, so don't look for that here. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews
