Peter M A story about a family in Brazil living under a military dictatorship. Fernanda gives a good performance as the mother dealing with 5 children when her husband is detained by the military regime. She keeps her emotions in check for the sake of her children. There are some harrowing scenes involving detention, but overall this film is too slow-paced. Many scenes involve mundane family activities, and there is not enough understanding of the political situation. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 02/22/25 Full Review Theresa M It could have easily ended sooner and gotten the point across. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/21/25 Full Review Mr. Hollywood The director lets the story unfold and its natural and in the moment. Definitely worth the Oscar nomination.
