This is a romanticized movie, but I rather enjoyed it. It looked like a film movie that was made in 1955. Go to Full Review

This is rich film fodder on its own, though framing it through the eyes of an imagined admirer never yields satisfying dramatic results: Mercedes functions more as a proxy for the filmmaker’s fascination than as a compelling character in her own right. Go to Full Review

Vince Q. @Vincedeq Nov 1 Submission for Best Foreign Film from Chile. Based on a true story surrounding Carolina Maria Geel ‘s murder of her lover in downtown 1950 Santiago. A paralegal attached to her case falls in love with her client’s perceived life. Tender, well performed and good production value. See more Claire M May 25 I loved everything about this movie. The acting was understated and brilliant. The lead actress, Elisa Zulueta, was a revelation. I fell in love with the clothes she wore. So chic. I will probably watch it again. See more Angie G 10/27/2024 A really interesting true story. An example of reality always outdoes the fiction. Brilliant acting, great ambience. See more Pam M 10/26/2024 This movie is a masterpiece. The music, the acting, set decoration and costume design, all perfecto! The yearning of the main character for the glamorous life that has evaded her, despite her brains and talent. It was spellbinding and reminded me of a wonderful short story by Jane Bowles about a woman who checked into a Manhattan hotel, just to be alone and drink cocoa. See more Read all reviews
