      Critics Consensus

A disappointing and unfocussed death row documentary that deals with many worthy issues, but struggles to find its voice.

Audience Member Probably one fo the most distorted delusional documentaries on race and the criminal justice system ever produced. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 02/13/23 Full Review Audience Member An intriguing documentary, that questions equality of justice in 1980 in Philadelphia. I discovered some shocking piece of news, and if the tone can appear somehow naive, it cleaverly drives you to adress a moral issue. This film stays with you long time. A must have ! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Audience Member free this man to free a nation! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/18/23 Full Review Audience Member UN BEAU DOC SUR MUMMIA ABU JAMAL IN THE DEATHROW DEPUIS LE 3 JUILLET 1982 A L'ISSU D'UNE PARODIE DE PROCES Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 02/05/23 Full Review Audience Member From the opening credits the feeling of dread and empathy is created. From the black screen with the clock slowly ticking away gives you a sene of anxiety and fear. This is what life for Mumia must be. Exept we can leave the cinema and go out into the world where he must face the 4 walls with the false convictions upon him. The presenter goes into it without a sence of biass and this is potrayed over well. A must for documentary fans and those who feel Mumia should finally be released from death row Rated 5 out of 5 stars 02/07/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Kevin Maher Times (UK) Essentially a Trojan-horse documentary that purports to deal with the crime, it is actually a discussion on race, politics and the American psyche. Rated: 3/5 Oct 24, 2008 Full Review Andrew Pulver Guardian A well-meaning but unfocused documentary. Rated: 2/5 Oct 24, 2008 Full Review Jay Weissberg Variety The legitimate case for death-row inmate Mumia Abu-Jamal's retrial gets another airing in British helmer Marc Evans' unfocused, oddly naive In Prison My Whole Life. Nov 17, 2007 Full Review Sam Jordison Film4 A worthy film, highlighting what seems to be a rank injustice, but one that is irritating and poorly put together. Rated: 2.5/5 Oct 24, 2008 Full Review Amber Wilkinson Eye for Film While some of the testimony, from the likes of Steve Earle and Mos Def is powerful, many of the parallels Francome and Evans attempt to draw feel slightly spurious and their conclusions lack sufficient back up. Rated: 2/5 Jun 13, 2008 Full Review Jessica Baxter Film Threat It's something you need to see if you don't know anything about Mumia or if, somehow, you missed the notion that bigotry is rampant on the police force.
