Chuck Bowen Slant Magazine Connoisseurs of Hong Sang-soo’s cinema will no doubt be fascinated by the transcendent minimalism of the film, which suggests Picasso knocking off a sketch on a piece of paper in a matter of seconds. A work that turns the gag of Woody Allen's unfocused character from Deconstructing Harry, into the central idea... Jul 4, 2024 Full Review Miyako Pleines Spectrum Culture In Water spends most of its time lingering on the in-between moments, but if you take a moment to wade deeper into Hong’s film, you’ll find it has more to offer than just its unique visual style. Richard B Most of the movie is out of focus, like a creative person struggling to find inspiration. It does give that pang of fright where one doesn't know how to pull it altogether. By the end, the filmmaker makes a social comment about tourists, which could be construed to be the audience, and the unawareness of the risks taken by the lonely Avant Garde artist that cannot connect with them.
