After deploying for a routine training mission, a group of U.S.S.R. naval pilots encounters a distress signal from an American submarine. Upon attempting to board the vessel to offer assistance, however, it's discovered the submarine is carrying a payload of cruise missiles aimed at the Soviet mainland. To make matters worse, because of a computer malfunction, those missiles are set to fire. Now it's up to the Americans and Soviets to work together to prevent World War III.
