Incredible But True

What to Know

Critics Consensus

Like its very literal title, Incredible But True grounds the wacky and the outrageous with a poignant albeit lengthy exploration of mid-life crisis.

Jonathan Romney Financial Times Incredible But True is a masterpiece of tragicomic invention, and itself a genuine Impossible Object. Rated: 5/5 Aug 17, 2023 Full Review Mark Hanson Slant Magazine Quentin Dupieux’s latest endlessly draws out every stilted interaction for maximum deadpan effect. Rated: 2/4 Feb 12, 2022 Full Review Jessica Kiang Variety This is a loopy lament for all the little bits of life we had to set aside just for a moment, only to never find again. But don’t worry, it also features a guy with a malfunctioning electronic penis. Tyler M Quentin Dupieux is incredibly underrated, if you like him, you love him, if you have no good humor, you'll gonna hate him. Thankfully, I'm not one. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/10/23 Full Review Audience Member Overall, once again, Director and Writer Quentin Dupieux doesn't disappoint. He delivers another creative film filled with random gags, unpredictable outcomes, touching themes, and positive messages. It's a story that successfully hooks its audiences quickly as it introduces an exciting tale with a slice of mystery. Incredible But True's small cast thankfully all differ from each other, bringing plenty of variety. The quirky soundtrack reminded me of old-school video games, which, again, matched the storyline and its touch of fantasy. It's another excellent addition to a stunning line-up of well-made films from Quentin Dupieux, and this is truly an "incredible" time- it's true!
