Euan P Cool movie, perfectly matches its title. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/01/24 Full Review Russell H Cute adventure with pets by themselves Rated 3 out of 5 stars 09/26/23 Full Review Lisa M The plot and overall movie are pretty good, considering the time period it was filmed. However, it's a hard movie to watch if take your blinders off and recognize what the producers put the animals through in order to get all the dramatic shots. All 3 pets had to fight a live bear, the cat was thrown into a river with rapids, they were shot at, the cat squared up with a lynx, the lab got quilled by a porcupine, etc. None of this was special effects or faked. The movie pre-dates animal rights regulations. Oh, and the bull terrier is a female. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 03/22/23 Full Review steve d Inferior in every way to the remake. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review christopher c. m Movies like this is why remakes can work better than the original. This isn't bad but I prefer the remake. Since the animals don't communicate with each other and we spend with just the animals we don't get much in character development. Except what the ever present narrator tells us. It didn't feel like a movie, it felt like a book. I'd rather hear the animals tells us how they were feeling not some disembodied voice, that really hurts the pacing. It's not horrible but it's no where near as good as the remake. It's just a very slow bland, meh. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/31/23 Full Review Audience Member I remember seeing Homeward Bound: The Incredible Journey when I was a kid. So it was hard to not compare the two movies. It is basically the same story, but in this one the animals do not talk and the story is narrated with the occasional human interaction with the animals. Enjoyable, but knowing the upcoming movie is better I wouldn't recommend it unless you want to see and compare the movies like I did.
