TheMovieSearch R Insecticidal is an absolute atrocity in filmmaking and easily ranks as one of the worst viewing experiences you could put yourself through. This is one of those rare films where every single element collapses at once, creating a product so bafflingly incompetent that you immediately regret pressing play. I would never revisit it, and I certainly wouldn’t recommend it to anyone—unless they’re studying how not to make a movie. From the very beginning, the film is so wildly all over the place that it never manages to connect with its audience. Nothing about it feels like a legitimate production; instead, it comes across like a low-effort fan project thrown together without any sense of vision or skill. There’s no cohesion, no rhythm, and no sign that anyone involved understood how to structure even the simplest of narratives. The direction is astonishingly poor. It genuinely feels like the work of a first-time director—or worse, someone who simply didn’t care. Add to that a screenplay that may be one of the most inept pieces of writing ever put to screen. The script doesn’t just struggle; it flatlines. There’s no plot development, no character progression, and no meaningful story beats. It reads like someone wrote it in a hurry, without understanding storytelling fundamentals. But even if the script and direction had been salvageable, the cast seals the deal. The acting is unbelievably bad across the board. There isn’t a single performer who rises above the material or even tries to ground the chaos. Every scene feels like a parody of itself, except the film lacks the self-awareness to lean into camp. In the end, Insecticidal checks off every box required to be a truly awful film. There is no charm, no craftsmanship, no style—nothing that would allow you to even jokingly call it "so bad it’s good." It is, by every measure, a complete cinematic disaster. Rated 0.5 out of 5 stars 11/25/25 Full Review don s This movie tries really hard to evoke the feelings of creature features from previous eras. The horrid CGI does little to help in that respect. The acting and the idiotic writing brings it much closer. This is not a good movie, nor really even a good B-movie, but the effort was definitely headed in the right direction. I'd rather give myself a douche with battery acid then ever watch a second more! I will admit though, it made me laugh quite a bit and I had no problem whatsoever watching the beautiful pair of breasts that make up a stunning Samantha McLeod running around throughout the length of this movie. Not a good movie, but it has its moments that make it at least not a total waste. I bought this movie, and I was rolling on the floor laughing at how bad it was, but it wasn't even laughably enjoyable. What kind of good movie has a bug killing someone in the shower?
