Bobby Belucci's (Emile Hirsch) life falls apart after he discovers his wife (Ashley Greene) is having an affair. After beating the Other Man to a pulp, his wife leaves him and he's demoted at work, triggering Bobby's determination to turn things around and prove to his wife and boss that he's worthy of redemption. His plan? Go undercover as a grunt in the DeMeo Crew's organized crime syndicate, with the goal of getting close with the head of the family -- capo Roy DeMeo (Abeckaser). But the deeper Bobby sinks into the mob, the more bodies start dropping, and the price for absolution may be higher than he can pay.

Despite being based on true events, one could just enjoy Abeckaser’s Inside Man for what it is: a thrilling and diverting low-budget crime thriller with a committed [Emile] Hirsch at the forefront of the operation.

It's early 80's. New York police detective Bobby Belucci (Emile Hirsch) has anger issues. After beating up his wife's boyfriend, he's stuck working the files at a desk. One night at a bar, he befriends a thug connected to the Gambino crime family. He starts working for Roy DeMeo (Danny Abeckaser) who infamously committed an incredible number of murders using the Gemini Method. This is a crime drama B-movie. It does have two things going for it. First, the real life crime story is very compelling. They're murderous gangsters. The second is the solid acting especially from Emile Hirsch. He's always been very good despite his declining career. I really like his complicated character. The big drawback is the B-movie filmmaking. I have not seen Danny A. Abeckaser's other directing work. I doubt that I missed much. The writing could be better, too. This is mostly a B-movie except for some of the actors.

This was actually very good. My score doesn't quite reflect that. It was just crafted very well, but I kept getting impatient with it. I kept pausing it, all the while acknowledging how well the story was put together.

Trudging, missing parts of the story that would actually fill the movie, and feels far too rushed. Also note a very obvious gaffe: at the end he hands Mary an envelope of plainly fake 100s with "for movie use only" and "united we stand" printed on them in plain view
