KB B This was such a compelling movie with great acting and storyline. Richard Gere and Andy Garcia were both exceptional as usual although I don't recall many films where Gere is the bad guy. It might have been interesting to see Gere and Garcia switch parts in this one. It's definitely worth the watch. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/17/24 Full Review Alec C Sometimes, the most dangerous of criminals are the ones who hide behind a badge! Dennis Peck is a corrupt cop who hides behind an affable demeanor and a perfect arrest record, only for internal affairs officer Raymond Avilla to catch his scent, leading to a tense game of cat and mouse with Avilla's wife caught in the crossfire. Part crime drama and psychological thriller, this internal struggle of good and evil will leave you breathless! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 04/15/24 Full Review Lon A Well acted, interesting plot. Chris Bennion Times (UK) Two hours of sweaty, macho headbutting ensues. Gere’s charming, ruthless sociopath — his glassy eyes and false smile work a treat here — steals the show. Jul 8, 2022 Full Review TIME Magazine Gere is hypnotic, writer Henry Bean's construction is entertainingly intricate, and director Mike Figgis knows how to turn on a subtle, authentic erotic heat. Mar 29, 2009 Full Review Variety Staff Variety Figgis never lets the pace slow long enough to expose the story's thinness despite, in retrospect, a moderate amount of action. Apr 9, 2008 Full Review Terry Francis Southern Voice (Atlanta) Internal Affairs has nothing to do with life or police corruption or infidelity as we experience them in the real world. It's actually a position paper on how to titillate the audience... without having a trace of honest regard for the themes it raises. Rated: 2/4 May 9, 2023 Full Review Brian Susbielles InSession Film It blends the lines perfectly where no one is safe and danger lurks at every corner. Feb 14, 2023 Full Review Common Sense Media Editors Common Sense Media You would hope today's lens would be more scrupulous on portrayals of women and people of color, and more original in its stylistic choices, which now look like a roll call of cliches.
