The International boasts some electric action sequences and picturesque locales, but is undone by its preposterous plot.

Terry S Well-done acting, plot and execution. The scene in the museum alone is worth the price of admission. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/17/24 Full Review Julian P Not sure why this rates so low. The plot isn't that far fetched as some critics have said... Banks are knee deep in dodgy debt and loans hence their transparency is poor. Clive Owen is a master of this genre, the action scenes are great, well shot in a typical north European colour (not one ray of sunshine!) Quite Bourne-esque. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 02/15/24 Full Review Pippa B Entertaining action film about two law enforcers not licensed to carry guns - one from Interpol, one from the New York DA's office - determined to bring down a corrupt international bank that peddles in (smallish) arms (of mass destruction) Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 01/02/24 Full Review Patrick J M Gloomy film, but that should not be considered a negative descriptor. Clive Owens is superb. Naomi Watts is a surprising casting choice, but I think she is believable, albeit somewhat forgettable. The Guggenheim shootout scene is phenomenal. Some of the "Top" Reviewers seem to want the movie to be something else. They're upset that it cannot be easily categorized. My only real negative critique of this film is that they never produced the sequel. This was a two-part series. It ends in a manner that requires the second film. Yes they wrap up some sins but the story was not over. Even the credits indicates that a second film is coming. It also includes a newspaper montage that alludes to a second film. What happened here? Bottom line, this movie is we're seeing. It's not bad at all. Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 11/11/23 Full Review Joe U Only a few action sequences…but they are worth every bit of it . It is a movie that let you understand how the world is going( if you don't already now!) Good movie! Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/02/23 Full Review Michael G Don't pay any attention to the audience and critics reviews on this movie. This is a beautifully shot and paced action thriller. Right from the opening scenes. The shootout at the Guggenheim museum is incredible and worth the watch alone. They actually built a duplicate set for the shootout scene, incredible. Highly recommended! Rated 5 out of 5 stars 05/13/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Shubhra Gupta The Indian Express Whatever happened to the old fashioned spy sagas which had breakneck chases, busty women and non-stop action? Now it's all brooding fellows with sad back-stories. Apr 26, 2019 Full Review Deborah Ross The Spectator The premise might be timely, but the execution is same old, same old. Aug 29, 2018 Full Review Samuel Wigley Sight & Sound A sure-footed and thrilling sidestep into cinema's mainstream. Jul 6, 2018 Full Review Brian Eggert Deep Focus Review The International is an occasionally cartoonish gut shot at the banking industry, its heroes white as white and its villains black as black. Rated: 2.5/4 Dec 6, 2023 Full Review Sean Axmaker Stream on Demand This altogether self-serious thriller is a timely piece of conspiratorial intimation and multinational economic power and Tom Tykwer’s direction is both sleekly handsome and efficiently anonymous... Aug 19, 2023 Full Review Mike Massie Gone With The Twins Assassins are no match for Clive Owen's powerful stare; it's all he ever brings to a gun-toting engagement, and it usually suffices.
