Manuela Lazic Little White Lies It is with this realistic yet pessimistic tone that Herzog ends his entertaining, fairly instructive and well-rounded film. Oct 28, 2016 Full Review Dustin Chang ScreenAnarchy Inferno is yet another entertaining philosophical musing -- the second offering this year, after his Lo, and Behold, Reveries of the Connected World -- from the master storyteller. And I couldn't be happier. Jul 17, 2020 Full Review Joel Mayward Cinemayward It's difficult to discern whether this is a documentary about volcanoes which also explores human nature and spirituality or vice versa...[in] a Werner Herzog film, it almost doesn't matter Rated: 3/5 Dec 12, 2018 Full Review Jordan M. Smith IONCINEMA.com Unsurprisingly, Into The Inferno turns out to be less about the science behind volcanology than about the infinite philosophical inquiries that have ruptured from the souls of those who live in close proximity to them. Pantera O "We can talk to them, and they can talk to us" Una aventura al corazón de los volcanes. Imponente. Atemorizante. Natural. Técnica: 8.4 Expresión: 7.2 Efecto: 7.8 Experiencia: 7.1 Calificación: 7.6/10 Rated 3.5 out of 5 stars 08/08/24 Full Review John A A mix of critical analysis of the questionable culture in a foreign land and those people's relationship with a grandiose volcano. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 11/15/23 Full Review Torin F INTO THE INFERNO is a meandering and slightly indulgent "Werner Herzog joint." The film purports to be about the human religious beliefs that help cultures make sense of volcanos, but a lot of run time is dedicated to a disjointed mix of basic science, history and Herzog's own previous encounters with volcanoes. There's some beautiful footage, for sure, and some interesting tidbits, but the critical acclaim for this one is a bit baffling. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 10/08/23 Full Review Raquel L Excelente série documental para quem se interessa sobre vulcões e o poder da natureza. Fantástico. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 08/02/23 Full Review Kyle M Another of Werner Herzog's poetically passionate, triumphantly captivating delivery bolstered by blazing, stunning imagery then cultural exploration that may signify straying commentary, but the accessible glimpses are just remarkably sharp and contributes to the stunning visual captures. (A-) Rated 4 out of 5 stars 04/30/23 Full Review Graham S This documentary is absolutely spectacular. I went in expecting it was just going to be some cool lava footage with a little science babble, but it is SO much more than that. The focus on different cultures and how they view volcanos around the world is so fascinating and eye-opening, and Werner Herzog keeps the audience riveted with his beautiful voice and genuine curiosity for more than just facts and footage. I've viewed this multiple times now and it never ceases to amaze me. This is essential watching for anyone who has any interest in the raw power of nature and its reflection in history and culture around the world.
