      B. L A great film. The atmosphere and the interaction of the people in the lonely hut are portrayed in a dense, authentic and credible way. Fortunately, the usual cliché "Germans are Nazis and murderers - Brits are gentlemen and heroes" is avoided. This also sets this film apart from other war films. A film worth seeing, also and especially because it leaves the beaten track. 9 out of 10 points! Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 04/11/24 Full Review Jelisije J A great movie of two groups of soldiers must band together in order to survive the harsh elements of Norwegian winter during WW2. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/28/23 Full Review Alex M Most of us are just regular people, we will always have differences but at the end we're more alike than we are different. However, most of the times it takes extreme circumstances for that to come out. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 12/20/22 Full Review Audience Member This movie is a testament to when movies were about feeling and character development. I have an appreciation for stories that show the simple difficulty of being loyal to country and still value the ability to develop friendship in strange circumstances. These days movies show killing on the screen at an outrageous pace. Shock value is no longer shocking. This movie made me feel something for the characters. It brings back some of the sense of the value of a single life and the shame of losing it. Rated 5 out of 5 stars 01/30/23 Full Review Audience Member Didn't know what to expect, more than pleasantly surprised. Excellent script, terrific dialogue and direction. The cast is tremendous, each character is perfectly cast. The German Lieutenant, played by Florian Lukas, held my attention above all, his acting, range of emotion displayed and nuanced sense of humor were outstanding. Truly a wonderful WWII flick and story of brotherhood and survival under terrible circumstances; the conditions of an awful war and brutal weather. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 01/13/23 Full Review samuel l Simple, slow, and uneventful. The pacing was poor, especially at the start, and the story was predictable after the initial confrontation. Most of the film was just repetitive scenes of them sharing a cabin. The ending was also disappointing. Some of the emotional bonding was believable but very cliched overall. I hated Grint's accent at the beginning, but he actually did a good job. The rest of the cast performed well too. The cinematography, visual effects, and soundtrack were all adequate. It could have been considerably better. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/30/23 Full Review Read all reviews Post a rating

Philip De Semlyen Empire Magazine Ponderous pacing makes this true-life tale a lot less enthralling than it might have been. Rated: 2/5 Sep 28, 2012 Full Review Derek Malcolm London Evening Standard Their little world in the wooden hut they find eventually becomes a microcosm of the real one, where they can leave behind some of the sillier prejudices of war. Rated: 3/5 Sep 28, 2012 Full Review Peter Bradshaw Guardian Although nicely produced, this second world war yarn is bland and predictable. Rated: 2/5 Sep 27, 2012 Full Review Edward Frost CineVue Plods from one sequence to the next, unable to escape an inherent feeling of transparency, of wearing its simple themes on its humdrum sleeve. Rated: 2/5 Feb 5, 2019 Full Review Simon Brookfield We Got This Covered As dramatically potent as a B-tier Disney drama, Into the White, while displaying instances of complexity, is mired by clich and melodrama. Rated: 5/10 Apr 11, 2013 Full Review Brian Orndorf Blu-ray.com Generates a satisfactory amount of suspense and personality to achieve its limited goals, successfully spinning routine with welcome attention to character.
