Jose Maria Santos Cine-Mundial Interesting as all [movies] of this type are. [Full review in Spanish] Sep 18, 2019 Full Review Tim Brayton Antagony & Ecstasy The last serious invisible man film for nearly a half-century proves to be rather disappointingly tedious to get through. Rated: 5/10 Jun 5, 2016 Full Review Ken Hanke Mountain Xpress (Asheville, NC) No, it's not a patch on the James Whale film, but it has its points as one of Universal's "silver age" (oft times, more like tin-foil age) outings. Rated: 3.5/5 Mar 24, 2015 Full Review Paul Chambers Movie Chambers It's very hard to like Hall's character, who decides being invisible is the best way to dispense justice to those who cheated him. Not one of my favorites. Rated: C Oct 26, 2014 Full Review Dennis Schwartz Dennis Schwartz Movie Reviews Special effects are the unabashed star of this film. Jay W After leaning more to a romantic comedy with the previous "Invisible Movies", returning to having the invisible person be the monster is a solid idea. If you were keeping up with the previous entries of this franchise, this movie will be particularly confusing. Despite having the last name "Griffin", there is no connection to the previous invisible people. To add to the confusion, Jon Hall returns from "Invisible Agent" but as a completely different person. This time Jon Hall is a man seeking for titular revenge. He is trying to get back at criminals who twice tried to have him killed and stole all his gold. The movie forgets about this plot point and paint these murderous criminals as the good guys. When Jon Hall finally gets the key to his revenge, that being his invisibility, he acts the way a little kid would act if he were invisible. The first thing he does is go up to the man he wants revenge against and says, "Look at me, I'm invisible!". He then wants to marry the man's daughter. The dad says that she won't date any invisible people. So Jon Hall decides to become visible again. This invisible man is an idiot, he might be the most pathetic of all the Universal Monsters. There's a major plot point where he explains how he is more terrified by a dog than anything else in the world. The effects are still good, and the movie is undeniably a lot of fun to watch and laugh. But other than that, there is little to see here. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 12/02/24 Full Review Andrew L The last serious Invisible Man movie until The 1990's makes the audience truly hate the villain and makes The Invisible Man out to be the monster he truly can be. Jon Hall plays a terrific bad guy and although the ending leaves the audience satisfied, the movie's plot gives a rather a dumb reason for Hall to make himself invisible. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 07/27/24 Full Review Dallas H This installment of the Invisible Man series is mediocre. Viewing it on a random Saturday night helped pass the time for me. But I wouldn't say it is worth its weight in salt. Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 03/03/24 Full Review Steve D More of a remake than a sequel but it works. Rated 3 out of 5 stars 04/07/23 Full Review Chris M This was a tamed installment even by 1940s standards. But there are some impressive effects for the time, for the most part. A few of the effects needed tweaking. But pacing is the biggest issue. Being a tamer installment it is also a slower one. No where near the level of the OG movie from 1933 but still a classic, a flawed classic. But a classic nonetheless. Rated 4 out of 5 stars 11/10/22 Full Review Liam D You can tell that this franchise was running out of steam but the effects are still very impressive especially for the 40s Rated 2.5 out of 5 stars 08/07/22 Full Review Read all reviews
