... Island at War is reasonably absorbing but no great classic.

I liked the authenticity of the series, and the acting was good. I was a little disappointed that after the first few episodes it largely became a pattern of Germans seducing or forcing the single ladies on the island to get in the sack with them. Any movie or series that turns most of it's attention to sexual rendezvous has lost the essence of what occupation was really like.

Fabulous series that originally was six episodes. It seemed as if it could have gone on for two more seasons, and we would have devoured every single moment of it. Great performances, cogent historical perspective, strong writing. Loved it.
