Amparo, alone and destitute, her acting career over, has decided to commit suicide in the same hotel where she filmed one of her forgotten movies. She hopes the press will at least report on her desperate end. But her path crosses with Toni, a 20-year-old as tormented as she is. Over two days, they will discover each other and realize that neither is what they seem. They harbor dark secrets that will gradually unfold amidst bored tourists, decadent parties, and tense silences. They have no idea that the end of this strange relationship that binds them will be as disconcerting as it is unexpected.

The result is a humane and sincere work, somewhat unconventional: its director's best since the revisitable 'Let the Dance Begin'. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review

More of a conceptual film than a realistic one, marked by an evident and constant implausibility that wouldn't necessarily be detrimental, Islas doesn't rise above the level of a failed good idea. [Full review in Spanish] Go to Full Review
