Times (UK) Staff Times (UK) [Isn't Life Wonderful] contains a great deal of sentiment and little else. Jul 21, 2020 Full Review Richard Brody New Yorker Filming on location in 1924, D. W. Griffith dramatized, in the heat of the moment, the turmoil arising in Germany from runaway inflation and unhealed wartime traumas. Apr 20, 2015 Full Review Shadow Stage Photoplay No doubt, this is one of the finest pictures of the typical Griffith type. Sep 24, 2020 Full Review Iris Barry The Spectator It is always painful to have to abandon an article of faith; but, frankly, I can no longer hope that Griffith will produce another good film. Audience Member One of Griffith's best films, about the hardships of a family in Weimer Germany following the war, when money was virtually useless and food and jobs were scarce. Shot mostly on location in Germany. Hard to find, but available online if you dig. Rated 4.5 out of 5 stars 02/01/23 Full Review Audience Member It's certainly better than this film, which must have seemed dated even in 1924.
