Martin J one of the most dismal and pointless movies.............. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 03/21/24 Full Review Ian W I like Timothy Spall. Why did he take this film? He has to play an unbelievably dull man. But why is every ummm... line errr.. delivered errr... so... umm... slowly... errr... umm... The original premis was OK, but the film drifted badly from around the 45 minute mark. The plot is ultimately paper thin. The love interest is just not remotely believable. It dragged. Why do Spanish backed films appear to drag? (OK not 'all', just the 4 Spanish films I've had to suffer in 2024). Does he get back to Manchester? Does he stay in Benidorm? Ultimately I just do not care. Rated 2 out of 5 stars 01/27/24 Full Review Tony C Good actors,in slow "what the hell is this about "Made about as much sense as a episode of the tv series Benidorm,Why was the cleaner tryst to poison him, when are they going to make part 2… Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/14/24 Full Review Sharon H Plotless. Fabulous views of Benidorm, best part of this slow and disappointing film. A pure waste of time. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 01/14/24 Full Review Paul M Honestly, one of the worst films I've seen. Stilted, monosyllabic dialogue, cliched plot lines and wooden performances. Do not waste your time watching this. Think of the worst movie you have ever seen and this will be even worse. Rated 1 out of 5 stars 12/17/23 Full Review M G Timothy Spall's innocence and naivety make this a lovely film of self-discovery and awakening but it's actually pretty grim. You'd think after the kidnapping he'd have some fight in him but he's just a nice guy trying to find some connection. The cleaner appears to be the main woman's partner (cue the pearls wrapped round her after the other woman talks about how she pulls them out of her in clubs) and has been making him tea, he collapses at the end with stomach pains. Close ups of tea hints that she's been poisoning him. The watch found at the end on the beach could be Timothy Spalls or his brothers, it's not clear. Either way, it's a dark ending but he was so happy to find meaning to his life that he almost ignored the bad stuff his brother had been involved in. Wendy Ide Observer (UK) The always impressive Spall elevates this low-key mood piece a little, but even his skill as an actor can’t save the stultifying pacing. Rated: 2/5 Sep 4, 2022 Full Review Leslie Felperin Financial Times Part noirish story about corruption and a missing person, part romantic comedy about a buttoned-up Brit who discovers a sensual side in a southern clime, It Snows in Benidorm is a whole paella of cliché and messy storytelling. Rated: 2/5 Sep 1, 2022 Full Review Mike McCahill Guardian Pushing its luck at two hours, this eventually collapses in a heap of its own symbolism, barely unpacking the missing-persons intrigue it started out with. Rated: 2/5 Aug 31, 2022 Full Review Edward Porter Sunday Times (UK) It often resembles a plain TV drama as it shuffles through its awkward mix of love story and social commentary. Rated: 2/5 Sep 12, 2022 Full Review Josh Saunders The Sun (UK) A tale of a man who becomes entranced with a sensual woman and rediscovers himself abroad is hardly original, but Spall and Choudhury are such talents you’ll almost believe it is. Rated: 3/5 Sep 2, 2022 Full Review Andy Lea Daily Express (UK) Coixet’s unusual editing technique (characters occasionally jump across the frame for no apparent reason) give this stilted and utterly perplexing film the air of a forgotten (and probably for good reason) David Lynch movie.
